Sponsoring husband

Hi,

We landed in Canada during 2010. Observing the job situation here my hubby returned back to home country.Now me and my son has by this time got citizenship and want to sponsor my hubby.But his PR is yet to expiry though he altogether stayed here for 5/6 months.Since his PR will expire sometime in May 2015 should we wait till that period to expire his PR to sponsor him?

Understand that PR card validity is not the same thing as PR status. His PR card will expire but he will still be a PR until such time as CIC formally revokes his status or he voluntarily renounces it.

Is he actually going to be returning to Canada permanently in the next few years?

Yes, he may be returning to Canada after few more years.

There isn't really any point to looking into this if you aren't even sure if and when he will actually be returning to Canada permanently.
