Hi, I invited my son to Canada on visit visa and soon after he reached, I applied for his PR. I took 17 months from PR application to landing (PR confirmation). I am sharing my experience below by thinking it might help someone and give insight how things will move step by step.

02-Aug-2018 - Reached Canada as a visitor
06-Aug-2018 - PR application is sent
13-Aug-2018 - PR application reached to IRCC
03-Dec-2018 - PR application is accepted for processing (means application is complete - otherwise IRCC return application)
11-Dec-2018 - Sponsor for PR application is accepted
11-Dec-2018 - Medical requested
29-Dec-2018 - Medical done
09-Jan-2019 - Medical report is submitted to IRCC
17-July-2019 - Application forwarded to Family Reunification Unit (Visa office) in London UK for further processing
08-Aug-2019 - Family Reunification Unit at the IRCC office in London UK confirmed the reception of PR application for further processing
07-Sep-2019 - Informed that applicant can receive pre-arrival services on behalf of IRCC
11-Sep-2019 - Passport request (sent passport to Ottawa as my son was already in Canada)
28-Sep-2019 - Passport sent to CPC Ottawa for visa sticker
23-Oct-2019 - Received passport back with visa sticker
19-Dec-2019 - Did flagpoling at Lewiston Queenston bridge Canada for PR confirmation/Landing

All this time my son remained in Canada with me
He attended the school
I applied twice his visitor visa extensions (first 6 months, second 1 year)
I kept it brief so if you need further inform feel free to discuss.

Thanks for reading.

I did the sponsorship of my husband he had been here 3 yrs now
His daughter was declared but she didnt come with him right away
Now we want her with us so i did her app but hers will be outland as she isnt here.

do both him and the child’s mom need to sign all the applicant forms or is just dad ok?

what form does the mother need to fill?
I know for the country she is from they need a letter when they exit from the mom as well but is there any in the pkg that is needed from her?

just want to make sure ive done it correctly

what other things are needed with the app?
Copies of:
Birth certificate
Passport

thanks

My son was from my first wife too and he was also declared.
So first I got following letters from court before starting the process.
1- Full custody from family court
2- Permission to take the child out of country
His mum had no objection as she got married and my son was living with my mother but I had to go through the proper court procedure.
Once I got the above letters from court then I applied for his visitor visa to bring him with me as soon as possible because PR process is very lengthy. Once he was here then I applied for his PR in a week after his arrival. ALTHOUGH HE WAS HERE BUT HIS APPLICATION WAS CONSIDERED AS "OUTSIDE OF CANADA". No matter if she (your husband's daughter) is here or in back home, application will be outland.

If dad gets her full custody then he can sign all documents but in my case even if I had full custody, still I discussed with her to sign the IMM 5604 and attached the copy of her ID (translated ID and notarized both documents) just to be on safer side.

I don't think anything in package that her mother need to fill other than you need to give her complete information even about her new family (husband & kids, their date of births etc.) if she is married. If you decide not to fill the IMM 5604E from her mother then explain it in your application why you decided not to fill that form e.g. father has full custody of child and he don't need her mother's permission according to court decision etc.

If dad has the full custody then while leaving the country you don't need mum's permission but if you still want to be safe then keep a copy of IMM 5604E form and a written application in which she mention that her daughter is going abroad with her father and she will stay on that address and she is flying on this date in this flight and I have no objection if she stays with her dad - signed & notarized. In my case I got all these letters IMM 5604, Written Application from her and ID attached because my son was travelling alone and he was minor (10 years old).

Provide all the documents that are mentioned in the applications checklist. I always provide "Letter of Explanation" (short & complete). Our basic purpose is to make the application more understandable for the case processing officer by providing complete information & supporting documents. I attached following documents:

1- Letter of Explanation
2- IMM5604E Form (Notarized)
3- Mother's ID (Translation & Notarized)
4- Court Letter of Child's Custody
5- Court Letter - Permission to take the child abroad
6- Father PR/Passport
7- Letter from employer ( showing earning - checklist he complete details what to put in the letter
8- Tax documents
9- Pay stubs (1 year)
10- Kid's passport
11- Kid's birth certificate (Translate & Notarized if needed)
12- Proof of relationship between Father & Kid ( I used passports, birth certificate and Nation database extract from my back home)

Hope it will help.

Ok
Many in my husband country did it without an official custody from court
Like you, she lives with his mom and not her birth mother (so grandma)
And a letter of permission is also what we were told would be needed but needs to be done once we leave the country.

Hi All, Both me & my wife are PR holders since Jul 2018 but my daughter was born in India in Mar 2019 and since then, we were living in India and I arrived in Canada alone in Nov 2020 with a job. I have below queries regarding the sponsorship application of my daughter which I submitted to IRCC in Jan 2021.

1. I got acknowledgment of receipt of my application from IRCC 2 days back with UCI & Application number. I submitted all the documents but have doubt regarding only 1 document which I didn't submit i.e. Appointing a representative. Now as my daughter is a minor (2 years old) and I am her sponsor, do I also need to appoint myself as her family representative in this case so that officially I am tracking her application?

2. Also, after submitting sponsorship application, I also applied for TRV in Feb starting as sponsorship application takes a long time. Can I link my sponsorship application with same GC Key from which I applied TRV application?

Kindly help in answering the below questions?

Thanks in advance :)

Thanks a lot for confirming. So, as I am the sponsor of the application, I can officially track my daughter's application?
That’s right. Since you are sponsoring your child who is now a minor, you can track her application. I believe representative form needs to be signed only if they are above 18 years.

Even if they were to request a representative form, the parent can sign on behalf of the child (under age 16, I believe).
