Sponsoring Dependant child from Philippines - Original Documents??

Hey all,

When sponsoring a dependant child from the Philippines (or anyone else for that matter) the country specific checklist asks for "original documents" for each dependant child. Document here in question is birth certificate.

Now usually when CIC asks for originals, that means notarized copy. Here it says that documents must be issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) and printed on NSO paper. Does this mean they want the actual original certificate? How can they request the actual original copy? What will the child use if this gets lost?

Usually when CIC asks for originals, they want the original. At least that is what I am used to. Where have you seen that "originals" == "notarized copy"?

The info you got there is outdated. The NSO is now called PSA. Also original birth certificates are issued by the PSA and you can request as many copies as you like. It's really easy to get this.
