Sponsoring Costa Rican spouse who has a daughter.

Hello all, this is my first post.

I will be marrying a Costa Rican woman who already has a child. I'm looking for information, tips, concerns (regarding immigration), and the expected process/timeline.

I know this will be under the Spousal Sponsorship application, does her daughter fall under the same application?

Has anyone had a similar situation with a single parent?

Hi Michael,
I cannot speak to the situation, though I do have a son from a previous relationship that is under consideration with our Sponsorship application.

You have to include all dependants, otherwise the CIC may consider it misrepresentation, or they will not be eligible for any PR applications in the future. This also means they will require a medical. Even if they are not accompanying your fiancee.

Her daughter will be included in her application. She will require either the fathers permission or court papers showing she has total custody of the child.
