Hello all!

I'm a Canadian born Citizen currently filling out the paperwork to sponsor my American spouse for PR. We have been together for over 4 years and married for 1 year. We met online on a Video Game playing Call of duty in Dec 2015 and starting dating shortly after. We finally met in person April 2018. I have visited him multiple times in the US and stayed with him for a over 9 months combined now. We are so sick of being apart so we just recently decided to move to Canada and apply for Outland spousal sponsorship asap.

I'm going to list the things below, that I'm concerned about:

1. We both don't have leases, vehicles or credit cards to put each other on for joint ownership. My husband was going to put me on his works healthcare but it would make it a lot more expensive thus significantly reducing our ability to save money.

2. We are not fans of taking pictures or using social media people so we don't have many of pictures throughout our relationship or together with family. However, both of our family's know of our relationship and all approve of it.

3. Were very smart with money and don't care to go to fancy dinners and dates for birthdays and holidays we've spent together so we can spend the money on more important things to improve quality of life. We decided to spend money on a new TV and bed cause his were old as hes living with his low-income family and has to buy everything himself.

4.It was a mutual decision to get married shortly before I had to return back to Canada. We were married by my spouses great-uncle at his house with my spouses mother, her bf and a few of her kids there. We didn't have a reception or honeymoon because we both wanted it small and casual. I wore a black dress and he wanted to wear his Levi jeans and a collared shirt.. we have considered renewing our vows in the future and having something more formal. We got out rings at a pawn shop and don't have the receipt.

5. Did anyone else struggle in writing the cover letter timeline of your relationship? How do you describe your love for someone in one paragraph... This is a lot more difficult then I expected!

Will any of these things look bad to CIS? If so, is there any suggestions on what we could do.

I'm stressed out that we could get rejected cause we are lacking some things they require for proof of a bona fide marriage.
I apologize if this is improperly written or too long. I'm overwhelmed from trying to research this information and we have considered an immigration lawyer but hoping to not have to resort to that.

Thanks for hearing me out :)

When it comes to proving marriage and relationship for immigration things like documentation is important. Luckily you are from the US or else this could be a much bigger issue. You should start taking pictures together. Do you have chat logs? If you use social media you should indicate that you are married? Are you both employed? Have savings? Can support yourselves without government help if you had to leave your parents’ homes? Did you take pictures of your wedding? Can you explain why both families were not at the wedding? Why would you apply outland if you are both in Canada? Apply inland with OWP.

I am currently visiting him in the USA. He hasn't been to Canada yet.
We have snapchat, some text messages but we mostly use Facetime Video chat all day and night when we are apart.
Yes we can support ourselves. I'm currently unemployed because I've been in the USA and am unable to work while I
I'm here on a visitors pass and I don't qualify for a work or student visa.
He is currently working and I have savings still from my past job.We both have future plans and intend on working full time and upgrading our education when he is granted PR.
We decided to wed not even 2 weeks before I had to leave back to Canada and we felt that was not enough notice. We didn't have the funds to have a big ceremony and didn't want to ask people for money for the sake of immigration proof. We dont like traditional weddings. His fathers family lives in Orgeon. My mom was in New Zealand for my sisters wedding and my side of the family is all in Canada and it would be expensive for them to attend.
We have pictures from the wedding should i include a bunch of them then?

Hey. Thanks for following up!

My husband is officially a PR as of Jan 2022 and just received his PR Card a few weeks ago(yay!). Everything went very easily with no issues, just took awhile for ircc to get to our application, took about 8 months from sent app to PR.
