Hello,

i just want to know if i am eligible to sponsor a dependent child who happens to be my nephew and i am also married.

thank you

Is he your adopted son now?

It is very difficult to adopt a family member even if their parents are dead because there is so much attempted fraud. Usually the child is expected to remain in their home country. The country of origin seems t also make a difference.

In theory yes. This assumes that you adopt the child, the adoption is both legal and acceptable to Canada. IRCC will heavily scrutinize the application for "adoption of convenience" or fraud. However, your being married is not a factor if the adoption route is followed.

child parents are not alive.. i know all other requirements but i am not sure if i can sponsor an adopted child while being married.

If the child is 17 or under and an orphan, you do NOT need to legally adopt him. You can simply sponsor him as an orphan family member.

Your own marital status is not relevant. However the orphan you are sponsoring can't be themselves married or common-law.
