Sponsoring additional Family Members mid-processing

Hi all,

First off apologies if this topic has been addressed earlier.

I submitted an application to sponsor my parents in 2010 and received a letter today from CIC informing me that they are now ready to begin processing the application.

The application was initially made out for my parents only. My sister is above the age of 22 and I am considering adding her to application since she is still a full-time student and fully dependent on my father (the principal applicant).

Can you guide me as to the steps I should take to add her to the application at this stage?

As of Friday Aug 1, CIC is changing the rules of dependent to someone 18 years old and under only. No more allowance for older people in full time studies.

So I don't think it's possible for you to add your sister anymore, unless you can gather all necessary paperwork and ensure the visa office receives the new application by Friday.

The paperwork would actually have to be received before close of business on Thurdsay (not Friday).

Oops yes indeed. As of this Friday new rule will already be effective.
