Hello,

If my household unit is 2 (my wife and I) and we want to sponsor my father (from Pakistan who is 62 years old) to Canada thro Parent Super Visa. The min. income requirment is: $38,618 as of 2015.

QUESTION: can my wife and I split this when filing our tax return? (She earns 15,000 and I earn 25,000 ). If YES, then what is the minimum amount that I (as the primary sponsorer) should show as my income.

Also, Can someone please help me figure out what documents to use . Thanks!

Your spouse would need to be a co-signer on your sponsorship application. The ratio of income is not relevant.

Note that the parent sponsorship program is closed for 2017. You will need to wait until Jan 2018 when it reopens to submit your interest form.

Oh no! It is closed this year? Can you please show me where you got this information because I was trying to find it myself. Also, is there usually a limit so its more like first come first served basis and I am too late this year?
What is the best time to submit the application? Even if I were to submit it this year will it get processed by next year or will they just reject it and tell me to send it next year?

OP is asking about the super visa program - not PR sponsorship.

Super visa is open and has no cap.

Notice of assessment is always recommended. Show all income you have :)
You will certainly need your birth certificate to show that he is indeed your father.
You will also need insurance for 100K.

Ah, missed that part.

Hi friends, need some help.. I'm a permanent resident and I want to bring my parents here for my baby delivery just for 2-3 months. I heard that the super visa insurance has to be taken for one year, which is kinda costly, and my parents are going to stay here only for 2-3 months. So what would you suggest? Is it better to apply for a super visa or tourist visa?

Regular tourist visa would be fine.

For supervisa, simply having a letter from current employer is suitable to prove income. See the last page of this checklist: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5484E.pdf
