hello everyone

my wife was sent back the application she submitted because of insufficient material, now we are in the process of sending it back again, but i ran in to a little confusion while reading the guide for clarification.

she paid the fees and got a receipt from money order..when they sent back the app. the receipt wasnt included, my question is, how can we prove to them that we have already paid?

also i'm starting to think that wasnt the right way to go, is it ok we pay at money order? my wife just went there and paid cash and got the receipt.

my other question is, she has been on social assistance before (loans for college) and hasnt filed her tax
returns will she still have an option c printout, if so will it affect our process in any-that she was on social assistance?

your quick response would be highly appreciated....we're planning on sending everything this week.

thanks

Your wife went where exactly to pay? She doesnt have a copy of the receipt. As they didn't return it with the application I'm sure they have a record of the payment. I would call CIC and verify this.

Loans for college are not considered social assistance. They are loans that need to be paid back. They are looking for welfare. She really should be filing her tax returns even if she has no income. She might even get a refund with credits from rent paid etc also if she is paying of her government student loans you get a credit for interest paid on those loans.. If she filed last year 2007.. she could request an Option C for that year.. All of this can be explained in a letter to them.. Just make sure you have all the information that they requested so you dont risk having it sent back again.
Good luck

i dont think she ordered a form from cic, the IMM 5401, she just went directly to the bank and paid with money order. will that be a problem?

and she does have an income, just haven't filed her tax returns yet. we were planning on sending them soon. she can start now, i guess but will that not take long?

She can get a printout for the previous year which she could have done earlier :)
You included a money order with your application? I would just call CIC and have the payment verified.

You would have received a receipt from the bank and hopefully she kept a copy or the receipt number. She can send in a copy of the copy or a letter with the receipt number. Or she could call CIC before she sends it in again and ask what to do. Good luck.

thanks guys

i've told my wife to do just that.

one thing concerns me, however: my wife and i only meet during the summer and spend only a couple of months together. what i'm saying is, we dont have many documentary proof to provide the IO. photos are no more than 10, and letters, well we have many of those. do u think they look to hardly on that-pictures i mean?

It could be tough for you. It depends on how your application is presented as well as numerous other factors like age difference, religion, culture, previous marriages, children, etc. Every case is reviewed individually but some visa offices are known to be tougher than others, especially if there is a high incidence of marriage fraud from that country. None of us here can 100% predict what your experience will be like in this process but like the saying goes, hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. Good luck.
