hello all,

i live in africa and am being sponsored by my wife who is a canadian citizen and lives in canada.

while filling out the forms i ran in to a a couple of questions i didnt clearly understand and would greatly appreciate some assistance.

on the schedule 1/ background form question # 10

it says to give full details of all the secondary and post secondary education i've had

i am still an undergraduate and havent finished my program yet and hence dont have any kind of certificate or diploma.....do i still mention the name of the college? also if i do, in the time box how would i write it down...for example if i started, say, 2007, 09 on the "to" part what do i write down?

my other question is, and i know u have been asked this many times, does my wife have to provide proof of income? i know u say its not necessary but on the cic site, it says that the spouse must meet certain financial requirements and there is nothing about a option c printout...i think thats for spouses who reside in canada with their sponsors....what say you to that?

thanks

I guess you could put "present" as you are still there

There is no income requirement for spousal sponsorship though she will need to include her Option C printout, this is mainly for proof that she hasn't been claiming welfare

thanks

thanks, lisa

i had missed that part about the option c. i understand now.

i have a couple of more question for you, though:

on the application for permanent residence, there is a question that asks "visa office requested", what is that? can u even request one?

there are documents that dont apply to me or my wife like the the common law union form, the medical condition statement and the representative form, do we have to include them in the package or can we just not send them at all?

last question,

is there any kind of standard order in which i should send my app to my wife so that she could send it to cpc-m?

again, thanks so much for your help.

You don't mention which country in Africa you live in so it's difficult to say what Visa office would process your application. The CIC website will tell you what visa office will process your application for your country of residence. If you leave it blank, they will just send it to the office they believe to be appropriate. If you are a citizen of one country but are a legal resident of another country for at least one year, you can use an embassy in either country. So for example, if you are a citizen of Ghana but have been living in Morocco legally for the past year, you could choose between the embassy in Accra or Rabat.

Don't include the forms you don't require. Just want to be sure that you are aware that you do need to be medically examined however. You seem to know that because it looks to me like you are following the guide.

Your wife has to submit ALL of the documents at the same time as she applies to be your sponsor. Otherwise the application is considered incomplete and will be sent back to her. So the order you send it to her doesn't matter as she needs everything on the checklist before she can submit it. Hope that helps.

hey

thanks a lot for the quick response...really helpful.

the last time my wife sent the application it was incomplete and returned to her, we had paid all the required fees except the right of permanent residence fee. my question is when we resend the complete application after it has been returned to us, what are the things besides the forms we submit?

also do we have to pay the fees again? how can they know that we have paid the first time?

appreciate your help

No, you don't have to pay the fees again. Just submit a copy of your receipt from the first time you paid.

Are you reading the requirements according to the guide? Here is the link to the CIC website that tells you everything you need. Make sure you read the Region Specific guide.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

It will tell you EVERYTHING you need like police clearances, proof of medical, pictures, marriage certificate, etc. Go through it carefully with your wife and you should be fine.
