I'm a Canadian Citizen who sponsored my spouse Outland from a country that requires a visitor's visa.
After a couple of weeks my spouse hated Canada and wanted to return home permanently, ending our marriage.
On arrival my spouse had applied for a SIN, OHIP and PR Card.
My spouse has Condition 51 on the COPR.
Has any other person had this experience and what should I do with the cards when they arrive?

Thanks, Rusty.

Inform CIC about this, ask them if they wish you to mail and return the cards, or shred. When you get the cards you should have an information contact on there.

I hope CIC is aware of your ended marriage, ect...

Thanks for your reply. I wonder what percentage of sponsorships fail after the applicant arrives in Canada?
Has anyone seen any threads in this very active forum?
Rusty.

Since s/he is now in breech of Condition 51, you should contact CIC and make them aware of this ASAP.

S/he can always request a replacement card, and or change the address where the card is to be mailed, but it will only be mailed to an address in Canada. If this happens, and s/he gets her hand on it, s/he could possibly re-enter Canada. I say possibly, because commercial carriers (air, sea, land, rail) all require a travel document for PRs to return to Canada, if they do NOT have their PR Card.

Remember, you are financially responsible for him/her for 3 years beyond the date that s/he landed, so you need to ensure that re-entry into Canada based on this PR doesn't happen.

Good luck!
