Greetings! I am planning to file papers for my spouse in the next 2-3 weeks and searching on the internet for some help brought me to this forum. Here are some facts about me so it becomes easier for someone to help or suggest.
- I immigrated as a PR in Ontario province in December 2007 and then eventually moved to Montreal, Quebec because I found a job here and have been living here since then. I also intend to reside in Montreal in the future
- I got married a month ago and my wife currently has refugee status in another country. She doesn't hold a valid passport but, she does have a Travel Document which is valid for 1 year. Please note she did not accompany me yet as she could not travel until recently due to lack of Passport/Travel Document.
My questions are:
1. How will the process of sponsorship work for me? Do I apply as a regular sponsor or do I need to apply specially in the province of Quebec?
2. My wife is currently studying and can only join me permanently after July 2010, does she need to show any income/property in her home country?
3. In the form there is a part which refers to Financial Information for the past 5 years. Do I need to furnish information about my earnings even though they were outside of Canada or only the earnings in Canada matters since, I migrated only 2 years ago.
4. Does her holding a refugee status have any bearing on whether she can apply for Canadian Residency?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Anish
