Hello,
I'm a Canadian citizen sponsoring my common-law partner. Do I, too, need to fill out the following:
IMM5406 - Additional family information
IMM5669E - Schedule A Background/Declaration

Thanks

Those forms are filled out by the applicant only (individual being sponsored). Follow how the forms are split out here and you'll be fine:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/fc.asp

Thanks for your response scylla.
The reason I'm asking is because it says specifically as follows:
on form IMM5406 - " The principal applicant, their spouse or common law partner (if applicable), and all dependent children 18 years of age or over must complete their own copy of this form"

On form IMM5669E there is a checkbox that you need to mark indicating wether you are ±the principal applicant OR ±the spouse, common law partner or child..etc..
So as a citizen I'm exempt of the "spousal obligation" of filling out these forms?

Ive been through all of these documents so many times i can write a PHD about them :'( I am aware of the three categories of sponsorship, immigration and Local Info Guides, and i have found that the wording is many times unclear, as i have expressed above.
Many thanks for your time.

1. It is because the forms are generic, they are used for all Immigration applications not just spousal.

The 'and their spouse' part is if you're sponsoring your mom and dad to come or say your parent and their spouse. I've been told on another thread. As was said on the previous post, they are fairly generic so they apply to multiple types of family sponsorship. Guess it makes it so they don't have to write more more specific forms, saving them work.
