Hey guys, I am in a predicament:

My spouse and I have been in a relationship since May 2011. We married earlier this year. Visited eachother >6 times, met with each other families, constant contact, it was all going well. Sponsorship application was submitted recently (last 3 months) and SA was granted (I am sorry I am being vague in details as I am posting this under a different username, I didnt wanted to use my regular user out of.. shame )

I got an SMS message at the end of last week pretty much saying: we are not 'the ones' for eachother, sorry I couldnt keep my promise, dont even try to contact me.

From there, my sponsor has vanished. No email, no call. I even had a third party tried to call from a random number within canada but no answer.

What shocks me is that we discussed marriage extensively before even being engaged, its something that as far as I know we both took seriously however seems that I was the only one who meant 'for life'.

Where do I stand now? what are my options?

I am sorry to hear this. Unfortunately, your sponsorship is over. Even if your spouse does not cancel the sponsorship, you are supposed to notify immigration of any change in family circumstances, such as having separated. Of course, if there is no interview, and the sponsor does not cancel, a PR visa may be issued. Again, though, at landing you are supposed to notify them that your marriage is over, in which case you will not be allowed to land.
I would continue to try to contact your spouse, to see what happened at least.

Are you asking about your options from an immigration perspective?

Until you land and become a permanent resident, the sponsor has the right to cancel the application (for any reason) and there is nothing you can do about it.

If you still wish to migrate to Canada, then you will have to determine if you qualify to apply under one of the independent immigration streams (e.g. skilled worker, provincial nominee) and then apply (if you qualify).

If you are actually asking about something else - please clarify your question. Sorry you're going through this.

All I can do is give you some advice about your PR application, although obviously you have problems that run deeper than that, and for that I am sorry

Since you applied three months ago, what this means is that you would fall under the new regulation (as of October 25, 2012) that requires Sponsored Permanent Residents to live together for two years after you land in Canada. Since this is obviously not going to happen, it means your PR status will likely be revoked after two years. It would probably best to contact CIC and withdraw your application as an applicant.

If you still with to come to Canada, you would probably need to find another way, such as a Skilled Worker.

This is just my opinion, and other people may know better than I.

Thank you guys, I am open for advice either on the personal and immigration perspective.

I understand now what happens on the immigration side, I assumed this would happen and I need to re-evaluate what I want to do.

On the personal/relationship perspective.. what would you guys do? I feel it is my obligation to not give up until my heart really tells me not to

I am thinking on giving some time, maybe until thursday and call to the work phone # (using a caller spoof to make it look like I am calling from Canada to avoid suspicion). After the SMS was received last week, personal phone went off, and I believe my sponsor is right now 'hiding' in the apartment of a friend. Personal e-mail has not been opened (sponsor left a tablet last time we visited eachother with personal inbox logged in, thats how I know... even though I know it is wrong to be lurking )

It's really your decision and you'll have to decide what's right for you. None of us can make this decision for you.

If I was in your place, I'd walk (run) away. If someone broke up with me via SMS (doesn't even have the b*lls to call and say the marriage is over?), is now refusing to speak with me and is cheating on me - then that's not a relationship I have any interest in being in long term. I would never be able to trust someone who has so littile respect for me and our relationship together. But that's just my opinion and you have to find your own path.

I can only assume I am being cheated on, what else could explain that sudden change?!

All the cards are at the sponsor's table. Pray for a change of mind, otherwise that would be the end of that PR application. Do not be in a hurry to take any drastic measures.

That is crazy and I am so sorry you are going through this Can't even imagine how horrible you feel. I would also suggest you contact his family and friends. Someone's got to know something about what is going on. Even if you hear nothing good it's better than being in the dark. Hope you hear something from him soon
