Hello all;
We are currently 15 months into our family class sponsorship for my wife's mother to come to Canada. The current wait time for approval of sponsorship is 31+ months, plus an additional 12 months processing in the applicant's home country.
My wife is the main sponsor for her mother and I am the co-signer. I have been offered an opportunity with my company in the US, which would require moving (we currently live in Ontario). My question is what affect, if any, does this have on the sponsorship application currently in process? Are we able to reside outside the country during the application process? I'm unable to find a clear answer to this anywhere on the web.
I do understand that my wife and myself must both be living in Canada when her mother lands, but that is approx 2-3 years away. We would like to pursue the US opportunity in the interm.
If residency is a requirement during the application, does anybody know exactly what is the definition of "residency". For example, keeping a home in Canada and spending a specific amount of time there?
Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. I've tried calling immigration at least 10 times in the past week and have not been able to connect with a person. Very frustrating.
Thanks;
Cory
