Hello,

I was wondering how I (the sponsor) will formulate my letter of explanation for the 5. Employment/Source of Income on the Document Checklist for Spousal Sponsorship(inland)。 Due to Covid-19 and office closure, I was terminated from my employment back in May 2020 and since then I'm unemployed and receiving Employment Insurance. However, my husband ( the applicant), has a full-time job.

I'm thinking of printing his latest pay stubs to show that he is also capable of supporting himself and also explain how I can fully support my husband if he is to be unemployed as well with my personal savings fund.

Would that be enough evidence? Please let me know otherwise.

Thanks.

You could include your termination letter. Other than that your latest NoA is all they are asking for. In your letter, you could point out that not only is supporting one another in times of economic and other hardship what spouse's do, it is exactly what IRCC wants you to demonstrate as part of the 'genuineness of the relationship' portion of the application.

Perfect, thank you so much.

You still need to prove you can support yourself and your husband if he is also unemployed so an NOA only shows how much you earned not how much you have in the bank. Proof of both your savings and any plans to seek future employment should be fine as long as you have some savings.
