hi guys....here is my dilemma...i am a canadian citizen and have been dating a girl from fiji for 2 months...i know as we used to live 10 mins from each other...i am sikh and she is christian....

i am planning to go there for the wedding and we plan on having sikh wedding and reception at the church..

my parents and 3 younger brothers live in new zealand...and they approve our relationship but not marriage..

plus my bros can not take time off work and parents look after grand kids.

here is my question...they all have agreed to write a letter saying they support relationship as genuine.

what exactly do they need to write in the letter.

in the sponsorship application do i mention they approve relationship but not marriage.

any help will be apprecaited

Do not say that they do not approve of the marriage. This is an unnecessary detail that might hurt you. You can say that they did not attend the wedding because of work and having to take care of the grandchildren. CIC does not necessarily expect people to go to another country for a wedding, in any case. Having them write letters or affidavits saying they think the relationship is genuine can help. They should use their own words: they should say how they are related to you, when they met your partner, that they believe the relationship is genuine, and explain why they think so.

thanks for the reply.
my folks have not met my partner.

so if they just write a letter and send me the original will that be ok...

you had mentioned affidavit as well. Do they need to have the letter notarized.

plus my brothers said they are not coming so do i get them to write a letter as well.

can they email me the letter or does it have to be original

thanks

You have only been dating 2 months and already getting married?? This, combined with family not supporting the marriage, is a huge red flag and could cause long delays, an interview and possible rejection of the app. IRCC will strongly suspect you are marrying now simply to get her PR status.

You would be better to establish your relationship/engagement longer, and meet more times in person before getting married.

You stated twice in your original post, your family does not support the marriage ("they approve relationship but not marriage"). Why are you now saying the opposite?

Talking on the phone is not the same as seeing each other in person. A marriage after 5 months of dating, will still probably cause lots of difficulties in your PR app. Again, you are better to date longer and meet more times in person, before getting married.

hi...sorry...that was my bad...

my parents are sikh...they know relationship is real...they want us to get married....but the wedding will be in a church...my parents dont want to go to the church.

it is the wedding venue that is the issue here

we dont have any families in fiji as having a sikh wedding is not possible.

My advice is the same, I would date longer and meet more times in person, before getting married and submitting a PR app. Else I would say you have a very high chance to see PR app rejected as marriage of convenience.

Sounds like a better plan. Having both families attend the wedding, meeting each other in person an additional time, and spending longer time developing the relationship before getting married and applying for her PR... will all lead to a much stronger app and higher chance of success.

Letters of support can be the original letter, an affidavit, a notarized letter, an email, etc. An affidavit carries the most weight, since the person is swearing that what he or she has written is true. However, any kind of letter is OK; it is up to the visa officer to decide how much importance to attach to it.

That her parents are in full support of her marrying someone that she has only known for two months, it really does have the ring of a marriage of convenience. And that you've only talked, but have yet to meet. If my daughter came to me and said she was planning on marrying someone she had met online only two months ago, that would set off so many alarm bells ...

At first you said that you'll be having a sikh wedding, then you said that having a sikh wedding is not possible, then you said you decided to have a sikh wedding instead. My head is still spinning.
