I applied for my husband's sponsorship inland in Sept, 2018. While we waited for a decision on our application, my husband was requested to do his medical exam and then his fingerprint for background check. Both were completed as soon as we received notice. We received a call saying that they are waiting on his fingerprints, once they receive it, they would then be able to determine whether I was eligible to sponsor him. We provided proof of receipt of having done the fingerprints and contacted RCMP as well, who confirmed in writing that this was done within a day of receiving our application for a background check so it must be lost in the mail or in CIC office. CIC agent informed me that once they received the fingerprints, if things were good then I would be considered eligible, next step would be interview in office for PR.
A week after their conversation I received an email notice that I was deemed eligible, but upon checking the status of our case, it shows "in process" on PR portion of this two step process.
Questions:
1. Why would my eligibility rest on his fingerprints, is that not part of his application portion?
2. Having received this eligibility for sponsorship, and him already having completed the medical exam and the fingerprints, are we actually waiting on the interview process or is there some other step to consider before the final decision?
3. Would they send another notice saying that the next step is interview?
4. What is the general wait period between decision being made to getting an interview at the Etobicoke office?
