I was looking over the guide for sponsoring outside of Canada. I am sponsoring via Mexico City.
I do have an Option C Printout but am wondering if I need to include 12 months of paystubs from my employer?
It says "If you must meet the minimum necessary income requirement" you have to submit it... but I keep seeing all over the boards there is no minimum requirement to sponsor your SO.

Can anyone confirm if I need to add these and if there's a minimum., I'm confused why it would be placed in the family class sponsorship guide if there is in fact no minimum.
Thanks so much.

Hello itscoezy,

If you meet the minimum necessary income requirement and have the Option-C printout, you don't have to send in the pay studs. but you do need an original of a letter from your employer stating your period of employment, salary and regular hours per week. That's what I send in with my application.

I hope this help.

Good Luck!!
Cheers,

I think the income requirement is not for a spouse but other family members.

The minimum income requirements apply to sponsoring parents and other relatives. If you are sponsoring a spouse only or a spouse and dependent child, you only need the Option C.

How about if you're sponsoring your spouse but living in the US until the PR is received?

If you file taxes in the US, send a copy of your return from there, and explain you have been living exclusively there.

Thanks everyone for your help! :) this is perfect!

Hi kenyatta,

I asked my boss, no they didn't call. I am pretty sure if you have the Option-C print out that show everything.

thank u but i am sponsoring in the other eligible class where i have to meet lico my boss can be very grumpy at times if u ask her a question

This is what I am going to do:

1. 2 page letter explaining why I did not provide an Option C;
2. My tax records from the Chinese government for 2010 which is equivalent to the Option C (2011 will be released in May - I am sending the application on April 3rd);
3. Letter of intent from a Canadian employer @ CAD$70,000 per year;
4. Mention of being a student in Canada (though for immigration purposes this is useless, but I want to show my commitment to life-long learning for the betterment of my family);
5. Pay stubs from August 2011 to present (current contract year);
6. Statement of Earnings and Benefits from my employer for 2010 and 2011;
7. Printed e-mail correspondence with banks and realty companies enquiring about mortgages;
8. My sincere promise to leave China as soon as my wife gets her visa - I also explained how we would close all our bank accounts, cancel our home phone / Internet, cancel our cellular plan, etc...

I surely hope this is enough proof that I am not on government assistance and that I have been fully employed and paying taxes while living in China.

I was just 19 when I sponsored.. still a student so had no huge income to show whatsoever. All you need is at least some form of employment even part time, and the confirmation from your employer stating how much you work for how long and your average earnings. I also gave in a federal tax return from previous year. I also gave three latest copy of pay stubs.
