I just got an email today saying that i meet the eligibility requirements for sponsoring my partner.

But i've been going on the online tracker for months and the eligibility there showed as complete a long time ago.

We applied in july last year and got AIP AOR Medical check etc.. only thing missing is background check.
Why did I get this email now? Does it mean we still need to wait a long time? I read that the sponsor approval is one of the first steps.

What is your application type? Conjugal or spousal? I am also waiting for SA. Almost 4 months post AOR now

same thing just happened here. applied at the end of July. just got my SA today even though AIP for my partner was like back in September or something.

i honestly wouldn't worry about it... when my partner got AIP but I never got the SA e-mail, I kind of assumed that I got SA anyways but just never got notified. as people have previously said, I'm pretty sure for the applicant to get AIP, the sponsor needs to be approved too...

sure enough, when signing on to the tracker today for the first time, I see that my eligibility as a sponsor had indeed been approved months ago, before my partner ever got their AIP notice.
the only reason I wasn't able to know this before was because I never got my UCI up until today (my UCI was blank with my AOR as many others have reported, and since I had never interacted with IRCC prior to the application process, I had no idea what my UCI would even be). so my first time with the tracker was today.

Anyways all that to say, I wouldn't worry about it (personally). I don't think it means anything different about our wait. we're getting there though :)
