Hi all,

I'm a Canadian citizen who's been living in Australia for 4 years (have PR here) and am looking to apply to sponsor my Australian partner for PR in Canada, as we'd like to move there later this year.

HELP!!

What documents can I use to meet the requirements for 'Supporting Documents' 17-20 from Document Checklist (IMM 5491)?

  • 17 - Notice of Assessment - should I provide my Australia NoA? I haven't filed in Canada for the last few years. Does 'Option-C' refer to something specific in Canadian NoAs?
  • 18 - Should I provide proof that I'm employed full-time in Australia? I can alternatively provide a Canadian bank statement demonstrating my CND savings and the interest earning on that - is that enough? Should I provide both?
  • 19 - Not sure how this is different to 17 and 18?
  • 20 - The tricky bit. Our plan is to do some travel around North America for a few months before settling in Ontario and looking for jobs. What can we use as evidence of a genuine intention to reside in Canada without job offers, a rental agreement, etc? I was thinking maybe we could write statutory declarations or something, and maybe have my parents also write one to say they're aware of our plans and think we have a genuine intention to move?

Happy to provide more detail if it'll help come up with a solution.

Thanks!!

Write an explanation as mentioned in the Checklist
.

Provide both.

There is no minimum income requirement for sponsoring spouses, Common-law Partner...and if you are enclosing proof of income as in 18, it is same.

  • 20 - The tricky bit. Our plan is to do some travel around North America for a few months before settling in Ontario and looking for jobs. Rental Agreement is not neccessary but if you can have one, it will help. Statutory declarations or simply write your plans for settling in Canada on a sheet of paper, and any other information which demonstrate your intentions to settle in Canada will be helpful.
