Is there anywhere in Canada that you can sponsor a family member, like brother, uncle etc...

if so do they require only proof of money or what

The below link should help you get started :

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/family.asp

You have a spouse - so this means you cannot sponsor a brother or uncle through Family Class. The only way you may be able to sponsor such a family member is through one of the few provincial nomination programs that has a family category (e.g. Manitoba). However there are other criteria your family member will have to meet to be approved (e.g. language test, possibly a job offer, etc.).

The first step is for you (as the sponsor) to move to Manitoba and live there for at least a year. You won't be able to sponsor anyone until this year has passed.

Hi Scylla

sorry I posted this question in PNP section for about 2 weeks but no answer I thought you might be able to answer this for me please, want to help a friend but want to be safe at the same time,

Would provincial nominee be considered a sponsorship, one of my old friends asked me to help him to be nominated (pnp), my question is if he gets here to Manitoba, if that person takes some loan or gets help from the PROVINCE, Employment and Income support or goes on EI may be in the coming 2, 3 years OR may be 10 years, do I need to pay that , some one told me that I would be responsible for 3 to 10 years , my friend is a professional guy, but just in case , I want to help but at the same time want to play safe.

Best regards
