SPONSERSHIP CANCELATION - HELP

Hello,

I sponsored my wife from Lebanon, it has been around 9 month now. Things are not going well between me and my wife and I wanted to cancel the sponsorship. But recently I got an e-mail from the embassy of Damascus that I need to provide them with documentations before a certain date [30 days] and that if I do not send them in that time period the visa will not be issued for my wife.

My question is, if I do not send the documents will the sponsorship be canceled completely or are there consequences?

Try to work things out if u can't, send them a mail that u want to withdraw your sponsorship.

So, If I do not send the required documentations they asked me to provide, will the sponsorship get canceled?
Because I want it to get canceled but I was wondering if I do not send the documents will it get canceled by default or do I still have to write the embassy?

You have to inform them.

Out of curiosity and since I'm going through Damascus as well and I've been waiting for 9 months too, when did you get asked for documents? And can I ask what documents they were? Was it the residency questionnaire?
Also you might want to know that a few people have received phone calls from Damascus that by the end of January files will be transferred to Amman, Beirut and Ankara. They have mentioned that they will inform everyone by the end of the month about the new visa office of their file.

They asked me early this month to re-do the medical test re-send it along with a copy of her passport. I got the e-mail on jan. 9th/2012.

But I did not receive any phone calls about the file update or may be my wife did in Lebanon and she did not inform me!
I was hoping that if I do not re-send the documents the sponsorship would get canceled and save me some work and time.

If you relay want to cancel better send a request to withdraw. and do not send those document. Default cancel and request cancel is different. Maybe in future if you sponsor again it may ask you why you did not withdraw.

I am wondering what else could happen if I do not request a cancellation and the sponsorship gets deleted by default?
What are the consequences of that?

Hi,

if you dont provide them with the requested documents in the given time your application for PR will be refused ( not cancelled) by default but will effect on any sponsorship you apply in the future, best thing is to inform them that you want to withdraw, explain the reason briefly if possible.

if you dont inform them and they cancel your application and next time you apply again they are definitely gonna question about previous sponsorship.

My observation and experience says that they are ready to issue the visa to your wife, this is the reason why they have asked for re-medicals, you need to make a quick decision before given timeline expires.
I hope things could get better between you both at first place!

Send them a letter that you'd like to withdraw your sponsorship application. If you're not sure where to send it, call CIC and ask them where to send this letter. But you have to inform them about your decision. Just beacause you won't send them required documents, they wouldn't know about your decision.

Thank you. Yeah, it has been stressful not only to us but to our families too. Break ups are not fun but you got to do what you got to do sometimes!
