Hey
I have been reading around and cant quite find an exact answer for what i'm looking for. My wife and I are about to apply for PR for her just waiting on a document we need to arrive in the mail. We have paid the fees and everything else is in order to be sent off. From what i gather, once sent off, i would receive first stage confirmation in about a month.
Right before the christmas holidays she came up to visit me and had some of my stuff from when i lived in the states in her car and they stopped her at the border for having too much stuff and had to put it in storage in Niagara. Because of this she was flagged and every time we cross the border we need to show someone our papers and they give her a slip that says how long she can be in the country, a date which my wife decides on. They said that once we get the paper from the first step, to bring it down and we should be able to get stuff out of storage and it will be easier for her to stay up her for longer.
Other than that we both have very clean slates. Neither of us have any criminal records, we don't have kids, have never been married before, and have no other background issues that we could see being a problem.
Now with that one little hiccup in the mix, we are trying to figure out :
A) how long on average it will take to get the PR. From what ive read, and friends i know who have done it, its been 6-8 months.
B) How long after getting PR will she be able to apply for jobs in Canada and start working?
Thank You
