Speeding Ticket in USA (Buffalo, New York)

Hello Guys,
I was pulled over by a highway trooper while I was returning home (Ontario) from USA on the Sunday. The ticket was issued to me because of over speeding. What the ticket says is I need to reply saying "Guilty" or "Not Guilty" via mail or in person on the December 6th 2016 (That's the hearing date mentioned on the ticket). I have done enough research and this is pretty common. There are lawyers who fight it for you and charge you one time flat fees. More than anything I am worried about this whole matter coming in picture when I am applying for PR I am at 468 points at the moment and have made my express entry profile already. I have also heard traffic violations don't impact your PR file. I am quite worried and thought I would post it here to have better clarity.

A speeding ticket won't impact the PR process. More serious traffic violations certain can (e.g. DUI).

Thank you for the response. Just for you to know the limit was 55MPH and I was at 82MPH. Does this matter?

If you are simply charged with speeding - then I believe you should be fine. However if the charge is dangerous driving (due to the high speed) or street racing or some other charge that is more than speeding, then you could have a problem on your hands.

You need to slow the heck down and be more responsible.

If its not charge for dangerous driving or serious crime like that, and you have promptly paid the fines, you should be fine

American speeding ticket will eventually show up on your ON driver license, however the good part is, it's doesn't affect the PR application at all. This might affect your job search, as some employer look for clean driving record, as an employment condition. My suggestion would be to hire a lawyer (400-500 bucks), to have him fight for you and lower the fine, as this will help you in long term. Speeding tickets can cost you big time in ON Insurance. (Sometimes almost double the monthly payment)

Getting caught doing illegal activities will be a criminal offence, which would definitely affect your Criminal background check.

Do you care the persons you share the road with? Look at your ticket, you might have received something more than speeding...Hopefully it doesnt affect your PR.

Nah, it shouldn't matter. Laws are different for each state, but my advice is to just pay the fine. It'll be higher, since you were more than 10 mph over, but not quite at 30. It's almost never worth it to actually fight the ticket, unless you have a US license and are already maxed out on point deductions for other traffic offenses. And even then, the traffic court judges aren't exactly the lenient type.
