How to obtain a police certificate

Spain

Do I need to provide a police certificate when applying for permanent residence?
Yes.

How and where do I obtain one?

Local Requests
Applicants should apply for a Certificación de Antecedentes Penales. Blank forms may be purchased at a newsstand or tobacconist and sent to:

Registro Central de Penados y Rebeldes
Ministerio de Justica
C/Atocha 13, 28012 Madrid
Website: www.justicia.es

The full names of the applicant’s mother and father should always be listed on the application form.

Non-Resident Requests
Application forms are available at Spanish embassies or consulates. Applicants must then request their country’s representative in Spain, usually through their embassy, to apply on their behalf. Applications should include a copy of the current valid passport (identity pages only) and the expired Spanish resident card (if still available), both certified by the Spanish embassy or consulate in the applicant’s country of residence. Applicants must also provide a written authorization in Spanish for their embassy in Madrid to request the certificate on their behalf. The written authorization should state: “Por la presente, yo (full name of applicant) autorizo a la Embajada de (name of their country) en España una certificación de antecedents penales.” The certificate will be returned to the embassy and subsequently mailed to the applicant.

Hi

I think I can help with this, Now then depending where you live it is easier and quicker to fly over and do this yourself municiple capitals ie Madrid and Malaga will complete it there and then, if not you can download and complete the forms the links are below:

http://esede.mjusticia.es/cs/Satellite/en/1200666550200/Tramite_C/1215326308572/Detalle.html

You can obtain the forms from the tobbaconist/ Guardia civil - within magistrates. and have to pay through a spanish bank.

Or download directly. Follow the instructions and post. We are going to Tenerife and are going to file within country and submit to Madrid, if you would like any help please feel free to pm me.

Also would be more than happy to file for you too as its only 10 eur as oposed to £180 via the consulate, let me know anyway, we are going on the 22nd so it would mean getting a wriggle on..

I hope this helps.

I am in the same situation. It says:

"Original of a valid Residency Card, passport, with a valid visa where applicable, or EU identification document if the person is a non-Spanish national."

So what if you are not a EU citizen and do not have a residency card? Will passport be enough or will it be impossible to get a police report from them then?
