SOWP validity period

Hello members,

I am on PGWP and will be applying for my spouse's SOWP. I have a few questions on that:

1. My PGWP is expiring in almost a year and the current SOWP processing time is around one year too. I am wondering what happens if CIC starts processing after 10 months, would it be issued for 2 months only?

2. In case, if my permit expires and if they process it after, would they reject it?

3. Do i still need to show strong home ties for my spouse for which i am applying or it is not as strong as compared to a spouse visit visa (TRV)?

Has anyone gone through a similar situation? Experts, please advise.

1. It will only be issued for the time valid on your PGWP. If it is the same processing time then IRCC may not even process it with less than 6 months on your PGWP.
2. Yes. It will be refused if PGWP has expired.
3. Always good to show ties to return.
