Hi forum,

My husband is a masters student in Alberta since Aug 2023. I have applied for SOWP on 24th Nov 2023, biometrics completed on 25th Nov. But there is no further update.
Given the situation I want to know if any November 2023 or earlier SOWP applicants have received their visas recently?

Check IRCC processing times to get an estimate of when most applications are processed.

It is not unusual to wait for around 6 months to get an SOWP. If you got married very recently and applied for the SOWP soon after then that could cause problems getting an SOWP especially on your first attempt. SOWP for spouses of international students was never guaranteed. If a couple has recently gotten married and has minimal in person relationship history it can sometime be difficult to get an SOWP until you have more of a relationship history.

We have been happily married for 4 years, and we have provided subsequent evidences, are there still chances of rejection?

Doesn’t your spouse’s study permit expire in July? IRCC doesn’t process permits within 6 months of expiry.

yes expires in July, but we have enrolled in another 1 year course and we have extension received just yesterday
But my visa refusal 3 days back only

bad bad luck

After the new update of Jan 2024, my full plan is getting ruined (what should i do any suggestion? )
If you aren’t eligible for a SOWP, then look into your own study permit, LMIA with closed work permit or wait until spouse finishes studies and hope you get an approved SOWP when she applies for a PGWP. Or she takes a Masters/Phd. Spouse knows about changes to PGWPs too and length, correct? Do you have a TRV to visit spouse?

We dont have that much amount of money now as we have invested in 1+1 year course
No i dont have TRV to visit spouse

So you wait until spouse gets PGWP, and be eligible to apply for SOWP. Has spouse been full time? Why a 1+1 course?
