I started this thread basically for those who have applied for SOWP and their spouses studying in Canada.

Share your experiences. Rejection or acceptance.. Date of application etc.

I have applied (paper application) for SOWP on 13th Nov and it is still under process.

I have not yet got any response yet. I submitted on 13th Nov 2014, VFS, Bangalore. I am still waiting for updates. I don't know how long the wait will go.

Hi disha,

I would like to confirm whether it's your fiancée or spouse?
I am not sure under which category can a fiancée apply (not sure if it is valid to apply under spouse open work permit (SOWP)).
However, below are the basic documents that is required to apply for SOWP
Main applicant's Documents (in your case it is you)
IMM1295
IMM 5645
IMM 5257
Bank statement and FD with sufficient funds
Payslips (last 6 months)
Cover letter
SOP
degree certificate
In case you are working then:
1) previous company offer letter and relieving letter.
2) Current company offer letter
3) Income tax returns - last 2 years
Marriage certificate and photographs

Spouse Documents.
Copy of passport, immigration and visa
Invitation letter by University
invitation letter by husband.

You can also add few more documents like: Medical certificate or your's / in-laws/ parent's property. Just to make your case stronger, you can put any amount of supporting documents.

Thankyou for replying first of all... Ya he will soon be spouse as well after getting married only am going to apply for it... i hav lot of queries plz be patient wid me.. I will be applying in April.. first of all how long will it approx take for getting visa if i apply by april end..
