1. Over the past year, VOs have been preferring school age children to apply for study permits. Wait and see and if refused re-apply for study permits.
2. Your wife can apply for visitor visa. She needs to show strong ties and reasons to return to country, funds, travel history etc. It will be more of a challenge to be approved since she has SOWP application in process so she is showing intent to stay and work in Canada. Given you are on a study permit, she needs very strong reasons/proof that she is coming only as a visitor.

I just this forum specifically for SOWP related questions. I have a situation, hope someone would have an answer.

I came here to Canada last April and applied for my wife's SOWP two weeks after reaching here. It's been nearly 10 months now, haven't received any updates on it yet. My study permit got expired on Dec 31st and am on a work permit now. I did submit web forms with my salary slips and employment letter after applying for my work permit and getting a job (Digital Marketing Specialist NOC B), hoping in case the file is taken I can prove I have a job now.

Now am planning to apply for my TRV and have an option to submit for a family member with it, so my question is since we have an existing application for SOWP could I still apply it now? I know this is a situation that doesn't happen often but would appreciate anyone can help me. I don't know what to do now.

I believe you are waiting for your PGWP and are currently on an implied status. I am in the same boat, the only difference being, I applied the SOWP in Dec 2021. Even I attached the Letter of Employment and Paystubs to let them know I have an NOC 0 job. My only concern is my implied status here as my spouse's Visitor Visa got rejected and I've applied for the GCMS.

Just curious, what is a TRV and why do you need it?

Hi, my husband and I applied together from Egypt (processing office: Ankara). I applied for a study permit (PhD) and he applied for a spousal open work permit. Here is our timeline:

Applications submitted: June 3 2021
No biometrics needed as both have previous biometric record
My study permit letter of introduction: 2 December 2021
I arrived to Canada December 23 2021.

No updates on husband’s SOWP yet. It has now been over 8 months since he submitted his application.
Questions:
1- Would it be better to submit a separate visitor visa application for him? Would that enable him to travel to Canada faster, even if he will be ineligible to work until the work permit arrives?
2- Would it help to submit my study permit as a supplementary document to his application?
3- Is there anything else we can do from our side to expedite his process? It has been unbearable waiting months on end with no updates…. We’ve sent countless email inquiries, only to receive the same “we are processing your application” template responses. Any advice or help from people who’ve been through similar situations would be really appreciated.

my wife and baby got medical request for the SOWP and visitor visa, they submitted medical on 31/01/2022, and doctor sent the medical result to embassy on 04/02/2022
and on 05/02/2022 my baby passed medical and my wife's didn't have any changes, then I sent the webform on 05/02/2022, then my wife's medical status changed to "Medical is under review" on 06/02/2022 .
Nothing has changed in my wife medical status thereafter to today.,

can there be any issue in medical or is it normal timeline?

My spouse is pursuing his graduation in Canada & I have applied for sowp & received my biometrics letter. I have 2 kids, a new born 20 days old & a 5 yr old kid. Should I apply for a separate visa for them or the details submitted in family information would suffice? Also with regard to the current processing time from India , 53 weeks, should I choose to apply for visitor visa?

and on 05/02/2022 my baby passed medical and my wife's didn't have any changes, then I sent the webform on 05/02/2022, then my wife's medical status changed to "Medical is under review" on 06/02/2022 .
Nothing has changed in my wife medical status thereafter to today.,

can there be any issue in medical or is it normal timeline?

Can I apply for SOWP as soon as i get an AOR for my sponsorship application? she is not in Canada.
I applied for a VV last month and got a refusal because they are not convinced she will leave at the end of her visit.

My employer has already applied for my extension and I have share all the relevant documents of my extension including the job offer letter with the IRCC through the web form but I have not received any acknowledgement from the IRCC that it has been received. I am wondering what will be the validity of the work permit that my wife is gonna get on her passport.
