Sowp approved but according to old passport

Hello everyone,

We had applied for WP extension and Sowp at the same time based on my spouse approved LMIA in October 2024. My passport was expiring in 2025, so i already started the process of passport renewal. My passport was renewed in December and we raised a form with the updated passport. Recently both of our WP were approved but validity on mine was still as per old passport. My spouse got theirs till 2027. According to the new rules effective 21st Jan 2025, I wont be eligible for an extension. What can i do now? Would I still be able to get extension based on passport expiry? Or what are my options?

Ask for reconsideration so that expiry date can match primary applicant and attach proof of your new passport.

Thank you, what documents should i provide for reconsideration? Would only my new passport suffice, or need any more documents to go with it.

Hi, in this regard I think the first thing you need to do is Submit a request directly through the IRCC system or email explaining your passport status and asking them to amend your WP expiry date based on the new passport. Good luck!
