Hi everyone,

I have PGWP with an expiry date of July 27, 2022. I am going to submit a SOWP application for my wife. But I read that I need to have at least 6 months before submission.

If you could tell me whether it is possible to get SOWP in my situation or not, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance

No your wife would not be eligible.

You're a spouse or family member of someone working or studying temporarily in Canada
You may be eligible for an open work permit if you’re:

https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/apply-who-permit-result.asp?q1_options=1i&q2_options=2d

Thank you for your answer.

Actually, I have been working as Project Coordinator for 4 months which is under NOC 0 (Construction Management)

but the problem is the expiry date.

You will likely have to add them on a PR application if you qualify for one.

Given that the your permit expires in less than 6 months, she is not eligible. Processing may take that long.

To clarify, My PGWP is valid from October 7, 2021 to July 27, 2022. So, actually, my total validity is more than 6 months. However, today ( January 29) my permit is going to expire in less than 6 months. When I first read your answer, I thought that to be eligible for SOWP, the expiration date has to be more than 6 months or longer.

My question is that to be eligible for SOWP (outside Canada) which one is correct
the total PGWP valid time
or the days left for validity?

You can apply and try. Right now you are not “approved to work in Canada six months or longer.” If your spouse is outland see what processing times are. You will see those on the forum those who have been rejected with the following,

You do not qualify as your spouse’s study permit in Canada is valid for less than six months from today. Refused under R205(c)(ii).

My spouse's work permit got approved this month, which is going to expire on June 16. However, I applied for an extension along with her application. Would that be a problem for her at the border when she lands as the expiry is just one month? Would my documents on the extension work for entering Canada? I booked the tickets for May 19. Please advise?
