it's voluntary not mandatory ........

it's good for you to send it as it's the only source to communicate with Visa Officer and tell your plans and background as well. If VO have any doubt will be clear through if VO read it . . .

IT's entirely upto u .Anyways they wont trust what you write without verifying it.If you something that to wish to draw their attention to you can also add in your SOP.

Hi Yana,

SOP is not in the VISA checklist however I'd strongly recommend you to put 1 in your VISA application.

As our friends told it’s the only medium to connect/express your plans/decision for deciding CANADA for higher education. (why CANDA? Why college/university? Why this course?)

VISA officer’s job is to check so many things before grant you VISA like, strong ties with country, educational background and proposed study match, candidate profile. There is no field/place to write these things in VISA forms so SOP will help you here. You can say it’s the place holder for describing all above things.

DOn't worry, it won't create any problem as its not a part of VISa checklist.

Yours submitted documents will determine your eligibility for visa. SOP is not required by Visa Offices and it will never have an effect on your study visas application
