Hello all!
I am in a strange situation here. Well for me it is strange, maybe common to others
My fiance and i have been dating for almost four years. We plan to marry in June of this year. I am a male of Canadian citizenship. My finance was born in Indonesia and holds an Indonesian passport however has been living and working in Singapore as a PR for a few years now.
My fiance has told me in no uncertain terms that she is coming with me when i leave after our marriage ceremony in June. She has had enough of goodbyes. However i am not sure how to go about this.
In order for her to be admitted into Canada the only option i can see is if she would apply for a visitors visa in advance. Then if it is granted she can come to Canada as a visitor which i believe is no longer than six months in length (please correct me if i am wrong).
Then i would have to sponsor her as "inland" and for her to stay longer than six months she would have to apply for visitor extensions. We would keep applying for extensions until hopefully her application to stay permanently is granted.
I have been to visit her in Singapore a total of four times in the last few years. She has been here twice. We have hundreds of photos and thousands of emails so i think we can prove the authenticity of our relationship.
My questions are:
1) is the procedure of marriage first, then applying for a visitors visa and extensions the best way for her to come immediately?
2) will Cdn customs be inclined to deny her visitors visa if they know she is now married to a Canadian?
3) it is likely she will be granted extensions assuming she is here on a visitors visa?
4) can she work while she is waiting for her application to be put through? Or does she have to wait for 1st stage approval to be able to draw an income and receive health care?
5) as mentioned she is a Indonesian resident, current PR of Singapore and is apply for PR status in Canada (not resident) will this complicate matters?
These are a lot of questions. I don't expect anyone to answer all of them but i am hoping some are willing to shed some light
