Hi All.

I am new member and don't know if I am writing in the correct topic. We have applied (me and my husband) for immigration in 2010 to Quebec- skilled workers. We got our acceptance from Quebec after the interview which was held in 2013. In 2012, we had a baby boy, who was added immediately to our file. he is healthy and was developing normally. the process was slow, but finally we got reply for medical examination. We visited the panel physician for the medical, where our medical (me and my husband) were approved, as no reply from their side, however for my baby, lot of questions needed, as he's non verbal and was unluckily diagnosed recently by autism disorder. The final requirements was to provide a specialist report from a specialist pediatrician and psychologist for detailed assessment for adaptive skills and IQ, which was forwarded to them. I am so stressed and upset, as I don't know if they will accept and give us the visa or no!? any information and advise will help!! thank you

There are 2 reasons which application for permanent residency could be refused following medical examination. First if a medical condition could impose risk to public health, which your son's condition could not. Second if it causes excessive demand on Canada's health system, which your son's condition could. Excessive demand is not clearly defined but generally amounts above 5000 dollars a year in the next 5 to 10 years is considered excessive. The designated health practitioner will evaluate his condition and determine the cost of treatments if needed.

My son need therapy sessions (behavior, speech and occupation)for his condition, and like other child need to go to nursery followed by school later on. how long is it taking to evaluate the case usually, and do you have any idea about the cost of the therapy?
