somebody here sponsor adopted child from outside canada?

i imagine it would depend on where the adoptive child is from... so more information is needed if you want proper guidance.
 
Hi they are twins from the Philippines. I am a bit confused if I am eligible to sponsor them. Because based on my Gross Income for year 2013, I earned 26k Cad. But when I checked the LICO table, since we are they are two plus me as the sponsor, I need to meet the minimum LICO for us three which is I think 36K CAD. But I asked one of the paralegal officers that I know, they said the LICO is only applicable when the adoptive child is in Canada. I need more opinions and advices. Thank u

Then the process may not be that straight forward. CIC may say that you have adopted the children primarily to facilitate their immigration to Canada and could refuse the sponsorship on that basis. Are the children currently living with you and have they been living with you for some time now (i.e. are the children no longer living with their parents)? Are you effectively their parent? Do you pay for their food, clothing, schooling?

Yes. I was still in the Philippines when I started giving all their basic needs. The elder twin was 4mons when the father (my brother) gave him to me and my parents. and the other one was I think 8 mons. From the time on, I was the one who gave them everything. The twins are living in our house w my parents only. They were turning 7 now. So basically, i was the one who supported them w their schooling food clothing..
 
As scylla has mentioned earlier, it is going to be a tough one to pass CIC agent's muster. As long as the adopted children's parents are alive and had raised them since the beginning for a while themselves, CIC is likely to believe the parents gave them up so they can immigrate to Canada through adoption.

Had the parents given them up for adoption since birth, then that is different ballgame due to that they would not know where the children may end up.

In your case, the parents may have had some knowledge that their children has opportunity to live in Canada through adoption. So the parents are likely to be "willing" to give them up if they believe their children will be "raised" in a better environment in comparison to their current circumstances.

Did you go through the process to legally adopt them, or did the parents simply give the kids to you to raise?

Even if the parents went through the legal means of adoption process, CIC is going to be leary of the kids going to their Canadian / PR relatives as adopted children. They are likely to be view such action as adoption of convenient for immigration purposes.

Depends on timing. If they legally adopted them when they were infants, and they are now 7 years old having spent all that time as legally adopted kids... it may be easier to proceed with the sponsorship.

However if they just did the legal process to adopt them now and then applied for their PR immediately after, that would lead to suspicion of adoption of convenience.

Also as OP is earning Canadian income I assume they are in Canada and not actually living/caring for the kids in person in the Philippines as a true adoptive parent, which could indeed make all of this difficult.
 
Hi, I am sponsoring a child whom I have also adopted (legally and I have the supporting documents with me now like the court order, etc.). I have some questions about signing the forms on her behalf since she is below 18 years old and is in Manila right now while I am here as a PR in Canada. Can I sign all the spaces where her signature is required? I found in one of the forms (Generic Applic Form) that the parents/legal guardian can sign if the applicant (the adopted child to be sponsored) is a minor. But there is another form (Applic to Sponsor, Sponsorship Agreement and Understanding) where her signature is also required and I did not see the note stating parents/legal guardian can sign.

I am also having a difficult time where to get the latest forms as I see there are dates near the form number and I am not sure if there is a more current version.

Also for the salary requirement, where can I get the information?
