Some Supervisa (SV) and SV insurance questions?

I am planning to apply Supervisa for my parents and have the following questions. Looking forward to responses from fellow forum members.

1. Is confirmation of Supervisa insurance required at the time of application itself and if not, then at what point of the application process is this required?

2. My mother underwent surgery for Ball gladder and dermoid cyst removal (both non-cancerous) in May’22 end. She has now completely recovered and stopped taking post operative medicines. She did not had any other minor or major surgery in her lifetime. She does not have serious health issues like Blood Sugar, Heart problems etc.
Should my mother’s condition be classified as having pre-existing diseases from the perspective of Supervisa insurance or Supervisa application or both?

3. I am planning to initiate the visa application in beginning of October. Some other forum members had suggested that I can even initiate the application in September. Considering my mother’s condition, what is the recommendation on the timing of the medical test? Should I go for Upfront medical or when the medical request is sent after an initial application? I am leaning towards upfront medical so that we have this thing out of the way before starting with other steps.

4. While applying for Supervisa, we are required to give the insurance start date. What date should I give considering that I am planning to start the process in October, and it make take 4-5 months for the process to be completed fully. What happens if the visa is delayed, and visa processing is expected to go beyond the initially selected start date?

1. You need to upload insurance proof with the application.

2. Can't advise on this one. May be contact an insurance agent and clarify.

3. Your wish. If medical center is far from your place go for upfront medical along with biometric else wait for the letter.

4. It is not an issue. Insurance companies know this and they will allow you to alter dates as needed. You can give a date in future like say something in 6 months and change the dates according to travel plans.

For biometric they will need biometric letter. Can't be done upfront.

1. You need proof of Insurqnce to apply. Although you pay in advance you)”” only activate the insurance when your parent comes to Canada. If they don’t remain for a year they can get a partial credit. If they remain longer than a year they must apply for another year of supervisa insurance. If they don’t maintain supervisa insurance that will be viewed as not following the immigration rules and visiting will likely become much more difficult if not impossible for a while.

2. Yes I would mention both the dermoid cyst removal and gallbladder removal. It is always better to mention things even if you are on the fence about whether it would be considered a pre-existing condition. If they don’t consider it will just be ignored. If you ever make a claim the insurance company will scour medical history for any procedure or medical condition that you may not have mentionned so better to be upfront with your medical history.

3. Would personally suggest 6 months from surgery since at 6 months you should be fully healed and past the point where complications will show up but there are no firm rules. If you are going to apply in October I would probably not do upfront medicals but again there are no firm rules.

4. The start date is the date you specified in the proposed travel date. Don’t book any tickets until you’ve been approved for the supervisa but you should go onto a travel or airline website and type in proposed travel dates to get your proposed itinerary to visit Canada. As I already specified, you’ll be paying for a year of supervisa insurance but policy won’t actually start covering your mother until you activated it when she has firm travel plans and travels to Canada. If she doesn’t remain for the full year you can also request a partial credit. If she stays past the 1 year she has to get another 1 year policy.

Hi Guys,

I applied for parent supervisa while my mother was backhome. She still has valid visitor visa so she came to Canada for a few weeks for her birthday and while she was here in Canada she got the biometrics request for super visa. My question is if it will be ok to get the biometrics done in Canada and submit it or will that be an issue? It only states that application should be submitted outside Canada but not sure if biometrics would also have to be done and submitted from outside Canada?
Your help will be greatly appreciated .

Thanks !
