Consider me a starter in Canada immigration process. The only thing I know is my application reached them on 07/07/2011. Can someone please let me know what the subsequent steps in the process are?
The information I see on website is AOR, 2nd AOR, Medicals, Check cleared….
1.What happens after the application is submitted to Sydney, Canada. What communication will be sent back and how do we know if the application is accepted?
3.Where is the actual decision on eligibility criteria held- Sydney/ Buffalo?
4.What happens after the documents are sent to Buffalo, if buffalo requires any documents from us, do they keep the file on Hold, until the documents are received.
5.What happens after the application is approved in Buffalo?
6.After the Case is finally approved, how long do we have to move to Canada?
7.What is the validity of FBI Clearance certificate and PCC?

I understand that my questions are basic, but will be very thankful if someone can help me understand the process better, Thanks in advance

1.What happens after the application is submitted to Sydney, Canada. What communication will be sent back and how do we know if the application is accepted?
>> if ur doc. are complete, they send AOR via. email, then if they are eligible (ie. complete test) for 67 points, they send PER (positive eligibility review)

3.Where is the actual decision on eligibility criteria held- Sydney/ Buffalo?
>> at both levels, they check for eligibility criteria.

4.What happens after the documents are sent to Buffalo, if buffalo requires any documents from us, do they keep the file on Hold, until the documents are received.
>> correct.

5.What happens after the application is approved in Buffalo?
>> u will be sent medical request (MR)

6.After the Case is finally approved, how long do we have to move to Canada?
>> the date counts from the day u have done medicals, n valid for 1 yr, ie. u have to move to canada within the year u have done the medicals.

7.What is the validity of FBI Clearance certificate and PCC?
>> 1 year

I understand that my questions are basic, but will be very thankful if someone can help me understand the process better, Thanks in advance

When you send your application it passes by several phases..
1st phase: Completeness phase:
The CIO officer checks that your application is complete & that all the required documents have been supplied.
They then encash your Credit card or Bank cheque.
(so if your payment got encashed, that would mean that you passed the first phase, where you application was found complete.. & that's usually done in a week's time, sometimes it took 3 weeks, though not common.
If your application was found complete & your cheque got en-cashed they start eligibility review in CIO.
If unfortunately the application was found incomplete they do not encash the cheque & they resend the application back by regular mail which takes from 1-3 months to reach the applicant

2nd phase: CIO eligibility review phase:
The CIO officer checks your papers & ensures that your NOC follows the ministral rules. He also counts your points.. & makes sure that ALL papers follow the eligibility criteria, with the IELTS and all..
If the officer finds your application eligible & everything is fine, he gives you a positive eligibility review (PER) & transfers your application to your relevant Visa Office, then sends an email if the applicant supplied an email in his application (in which there is your file number & client number) to inform you of that.
If unfortunately the application was found not eligible (NER) for processing (e.g. not enough work experience, not enough points) they send an email by that informing the applicant.
That usually occurs 30-120 days from the day you submitted your application.

In this phase, & after you recieve a file number/client number, you can start checking your ecase status (online application status) from the following link
https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/?app=ecas&lang=en

3rd phase: The VO: (differs a bit from one visa office to the other, but the following is in short)
2nd AORs sent (by email or mail according to VO),
Another fast eligibility review is being done, background & security checks. Medical Request, Police certificate request, Request for Permanent Residence fee & Passport requests (by mail).
If unfortunately anything is missing, they will contact you (probably by email, sometimes by phone calls)
Ends by issuing the visa :) soon inshAllah (by god's will)

Hi,

I'm new here. Just have a few questions. I submitted my application last July and it was received in CIC on July 5. I received a mail from CIC last Saturday, July 30, with only my original diploma and a letter. The letter states:

"Dear Sir/Madame:
This letter refers to recent documents sent to our office regarding your application for permanent residence in Canada in the Federal Skilled Worker Class.

As a copy already exists on file, please keep this original for your records.

Should you require additional information/clarification please contact the nearest Visa Office.

We trust that this information is helpful. Thank you for your interest in Canada.

MR
Immigration Section
Case Processing Centre
Sydney, Nova Scotia.."

What does this mean? I did not receive an email yet so I 'm not sure what stage my application is in right now.
