Hi,

I have downloaded the online form for the Student Visa. I have some questions regarding it:

First of all, What are the processing times for online applications, or do I actually have to visit a visa office and the processing time is according that?

Employment Section: I have never had a job. What should I write there? Should I just leave it blank.

Country where applying: I don't really get this question. I'm applying online from Afghanistan, but since there is no Canadian Embassy here, I would have to apply from the New Delhi, India. Should I write New Delhi, India? Also, I dont have a citizen status for india yet, but I shall be visiting it on a visitor visa, for the canadian visa application. Should I write future dates, leave it blank, or fill it once I get my Indian Visa.

Thanks for your help in Advance :)

hello zestweb. check out this link to acquire information about the processing time for a study permit in your country http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp/students.asp.

if you are going for a master's, you can place STUDENT as your employment meaning that you would put the dates you began and completed your undergraduate studies. If this doesn't apply to you leave the section BLANK.

as for the country applying from question, put the country that you are residing in. CIC will automatically transmit your application to the applicable embassy. By the way, where is your official country of residence? This should ideally be the entry for answering the question.

Well, my official country of residence is Afghanistan. Unfortunately, there isn't a Canadian Embassy here. Most people from here apply through the Islamabad Embassy, but I wish to apply through Delhi, since it is much faster and I'm in sort of a rush. If I put afghanistan as country applying from, would they automatically assign Islamabad or something like that?

You can't apply from India.

India is only responsible for immigration of Nepal and Bhutan,

Suppose I have an Indian Visa..?

If I can't.. then what about Afghans living in India. Do they have to travel elsewhere to apply?

Thanks

zestweb where are you living right now?

jesus, I'm in kabul afghanistan right now, but I'm travelling to India this week on a visitor visa. I figured I would apply for the student visa from there. But now I'm confused.

how long do you intend to stay in india?

Why don't you apply online through MyCIC?

this case is all dependent on where you intend reside longer. if you are going to reside in india up until you travel to canada providing you get the visa then you can certainly apply in india. however you need to ensure that you stay put wherever you are after applying for the visa in case they request your passport. you don't want a scenario where you will have to ship your passport all the way to CHC Pakistan or CHC New Delhi when in fact you may not be in the same country as the embassy!

I'm probably gonna apply online, but I still have to put a visa office, and i'm going to put india, once I get my visa.
