Hello All!

Background:

Me and my wife have been together now for 13 months. I got married in December 2018 to my wife in Lebanon. I am a Canadian Citizen and she is a Lebanese Citizen. I applied for her PR in March 2019. It was received March 22. On May 2, my sponsorship application was approved. Got the AOR on May 13. May 2 she received her medical request and on May 15 she received her biometrics request. These were both completed on May 18. On May 19, I submitted a TRV application for her. She was refused on July 2 due to no travel history, insufficient finances (I don't get why, I submitted my financial info and a letter promising to fully pay for her trip. I even purchased her the roundtrip plane ticket and submitted it with the application), and refused based on current family ties to Canada (im her only family here). When I use the online tool to see the current status, the latest thing showing is, "we received medical results". This was roughly around the end of May. There have been no updates since.

My questions:

1) One thing I noticed is that there are 3 common interview questions if an interview is requested. One of them is, "Have you ever been denied entry into Canada?" Since she got refused for the visitor visa, would she have to answer yes to this question?

2) Ive noticed on the google sheets that people who post their application info show that they receive medical approvals a week after their medicals. Why doesn't my wife's application show this?

3) Why is there nothing on the online tool showing request/receipt of biometrics?

4) What will happen next in the application process for the PR? I keep getting confused the more I read so I would appreciate if someone could walk me through what is to come from this point on.

5) Considering the current status of my application, what do you guys think is a likely timeframe for any remaining steps?

6) Do these PR applications take the whole 12 months? Im curious what a realistic timeframe will be.

Thanks for your replys!

Your wife's TRV was denied because spouses rarely get approved to come to Canada - overstaying in these cases is probable and TRVs end up being misused as a way of entering the country and staying until PR is granted. She would obviously not be just a visitor in this case.

1) Yes.
2) & 3) If you are not using GCKey to check application status, the online tool will not show much until your application has been approved and completed.
4) I don't know the answer to this as I'm only familiar with Inland applications.
5) 12 months total.
6) 12 months total. Some go beyond a year but most stay around 12 months.

I don't know. I would assume that it has been turned over to Beirut considering they requested a medical/biometrics awhile ago? I will ask my immigration lawyer and ill see where everything is at. ill update you guys as soon as I know - most likely tomorrow.
