1. Do all new immigrants carrying more than $ 10000 need to complete form e677 ( currency declaration) at landing ?

2. If I am just carrying my basic personal belongings ( clothes, personal laptop, some books) , and there won't be anything to follow,
do I need to complete any 'GOODS' form?

Hi, coolbreeze,

1. YES (every one even citizen also have to declar if amount is > or $ 1000)
2. YES (you do need to complete the B4 form but you are not required to fill the form B4A, good to follow form)

If you have only usual personal items including camera, laptop in your accompanied baggage it is not compulsory to fill the B4/B4a forms when landing. You will get an embarkation form in the flight which is compulsory for every passenger to fill up with total cost of the items imported in addition to liquor and cigarette.

If an immigrant has considerably valuable items including jewelry better he /she should list those costly items in B4 form. No need to show few pairs of dress, shoes, toiletries, shaver, hair dryer etc in the B4 form.

Usually customs officer (CBSA) at the arrival desk will view your embarkation form and will ask if you have any stuff to declare or important. Just say that you have only dress, personal items and some books. That would be fine.

If an immigrant has send more house hold stuff by cargo plane/ship/trailer then two copies of "Goods to follow" list to be prepared in B4/B4a form and get it signed when landing. That can be used to clear the goods without import duty when it arrive.

Please note that form B4a is a continuation form of form B4 to list additional goods and goods to follow.

The embarkation form is DECLARATION CARD for Canada. It is very simple to fill. Any one read and write English or French can do it. As ankit_20 told, nothing to mention about your personal stuff there.

Don't worry about such things. Relax and land in Canada.
