Hi All

I am gearing up for applying Canadian citizenship and have some questions while filling the forms. I will appreciate your help!

1) Question says : Do you have permanent resident status in any other country?
I recently got US green card ,does it affect citizenship(still about 60 days to go before I landed in US)? I have started working for US company but they have allowed me to work from home for few months being in IT.So 90% of the time I am working from home and whenever I travel to US I am doing it thru Greyhound and keeping tickets)

Also it asks to mention the date I acquired the status to other country. I acquired the status about 30 days back and came back in 2 days and plan to live here in Canada in my own home. Trying to keep all receipts, statements etc. as proof of residence here as they don't stamp passport. Should I do something else?

2)Before I actually came to live(after 3 months of my landing) ,I came for landing and came for some other tasks to Canada for about 4 days in total. Will those days be counted?

3) I plan to leave after applying citizenship and want to give my friends' address and also acquire non resident status in few months.
So address of my friend will say residing from 1 month or so?Is that a concern that address is very recent?

Appreciate your input!
Thanks
Akhil

As long as you can prove that you fulfill the residency requirements for citizenship of more than 1095 days in 4 years, you should be ok to apply, even though you have gained green card status. However, it is risky leaving Canada after applying. Even though there are no rules against leaving after applying and you would get your citizenship as long as you pass the test and they believe your 1095 days, if you fail the test or they don't believe your 1095 days and you are called for an interview, it will be tough to convince them that they should give you citizenship when you have gained US PR shortly before applying and have since moved to the US.

Yes, as long as you have stayed in Canada 2 years out of the past 5 when you apply to renew, you will get your renewal.
