Hello Hello I am an Australian and have booked to fly to canada in a weeks time. I applied for my 2 year working holiday visa, and it has not been processed yet as its only been 5 weeks since i lodged it ( i think it takes up to 8 weeks). I am wondering if i can enter canada on a different visa until my working holiday visa is processsed. And if so will I have to fly out and then back into canada to get my visa processed by canadian immigration once I have recieved it. It is only a week away so it would be great to get some answers. Thanks in advance Jay

You Australians don't need a visa to travel to Canada as a tourist, right? So you could probably go to Canada and then just drive to the nearest border crossing to "open" your working holiday visa once it's ready....The only thing is didn't they take your passport when you applied for the visa? And even if they didn't once your visa is ready they will request your passport to put the actual visa sticker in it, won't they? What are you going to do then - mail it to the embassy in Australia?

I would wait for my working holiday visa to be ready rather than create complications for myself for the sake of arriving in Canada 2 weeks earlier 8)

thanks for the reply. yeah thats a good idea driving to the nearest border. Yes you are right i do not need to apply for a tourist visa as i simply get 1 when i arrive canada. My working visa will be stapled in my passport when i arrive at immigration canada and give them the neccesary documents needed. thanks for your time
