Can someone please tell me what happens if someone sells/sold their pr card, and gets a new one by saying they "lost" it?

If it can be proven that they sold it, which should be easy as they seem to be telling all their friends about it, they could be in trouble for making false statements to immigration and for assisting people who are trying to get into Canada illegally.

As for what the buyer is planning to do with it, I am sure Canada immigration will flag the card in the system as soon as it is reported as lost. That means they would not be able to travel with it. It is however possible that an illegal immigrant could use the card inside Canada in order to get a drivers license and health care as they might not be linked with the system of immigration. It is also possible that the buyer wants it because they are planning to try to make copies.

How much did they get for the card anyway?

How you guys can discuss this topic seriously. It is beneath contempt. How people can sell it while other people honestly try to receive it and meet all requirements. It is very sad when criminals want take advantages from that situations. Moreover, in my opinion it is impossible, people report their stolen cards and the information about that immediately goes to the custom. Anyway it is disgusting if somebody sell it.

Well, q1,

I have been separated from my husband since 2008, so when I hear about someone selling a PR card, it infuriates me, as right now I feel like I could commit bloody murder just to get one. But there's not much I can do about it other than laugh it off, as I have nothing else to laugh about right now. It's not so much as discussing it seriously, it's more of a matter of shaking one's head at the thought anyone being so dumb-both the seller and the buyer.

Sorry if it offended you.

I wonder if the seller actually thought things through. Does he/she realise that the buyer can now call the CIC call center, answer most of the security questions used to confirm identity and get information? Crazy!!!

When a PR enters Canada, is the passport swiped or the PR card too? If only the passport, how would CIC ever know that that particular PR card had been reported lost?

And what does the buyer do -- get plastic surgery to look like the photo on the PR card?

When I was a PR, my PR card would get swiped when entering Canada.

I suppose if you are trying to sell a PR card, you would have to sell it to someone who looks at least a bit like the photo.

So, if you sold your PR card, Leon, you'd sell it to someone who looked a bit like Brad Pitt?

(ba da dum!!)
