Hi All,

I am confused about which route to apply by for immigration to Canada. Below are my details:

Age - 34 years
Highest academics - B.A (P) from D.U (2001)
Total Work Experience - 10 years
Experience as Software Tester - 7.5 years
Married
IELTS (Done in 2010 - know this will need to be done again) - Overall Band 7

1. what are my chances for applying to go to Canada via EE route?

2. Should I apply via PNP route? Which PNP is active now or going to start in the next 1-2 months time?

Anyone with similar situation can connect with me. Thanks

1. what are my chances for applying to go to Canada via EE route? This is a difficult question to answer without knowing your CRS score. I suggest you use the CIC CRS Points calculator tool to give yourself an idea where you stand. FYI in 9 draws the lowest the required score has been is 453.

2. Should I apply via PNP route? Which PNP is active now or going to start in the next 1-2 months time?

I hope you will get some more responses from other forum members, and I wish you all the best.

I have already created my profile and below are my details:

Experience: Software Manual Tester
Total years: 7.5 years
Total IT experience : 7.5 years
IELTS: Overall band 7
CRS Score: 357

Now, since I am married, i have had my wife also write her IELTS. Adding her score its 375

However, if you need to get a good score, you need to have an IELTS score of CLB 9

Which can be a tough ask, when i added my score with CLB 9 it crossed past 400 (435 to be exact)

Now, Ontario would only send out invite to profiles having 400 points and above in EE pool.. There are other esteemed candidates in this forum who can vouch for that :)

Hope that this would clarify your doubts.

Bottomline: Write your IELTS and improve your score to CLB 9 (if you dont have Canadian work experience)

If your spouse's IELTS added 20 points to your score, then she needs
to have CLB9 already. Couldn't you consider having her as principal
applicant and you as the accompanying spouse, that is of course if she
also has work experience and a university degree.

Yes, I am planning of doing that. But even then, our score would still not go beyond 400. In which case it would only make it more sense that I re-sit my IELTS and then make her the PA, which would catapult out total score beyond 400 and close to the last draw score. For ppl like us who are applying from India its way too difficult to get a score of 450 and above. Let alone the total score with spouse can be a max of 460 and that too if you are in Canada, having canadian work experience.

Either way, having your spouse also to write her IELTS and also her certificates validates by WES will only pay dividends later on.
