Dear aLL,

Under the proposed changes, CIC would close Federal Skilled Worker applicants' files if they:
• applied before February 27, 2008, and
• have not had a decision made by an immigration officer based on selection criteria by March 29, 2012.- This means those who applied in 2011, received PER+AOR only, where the decision had not been made also comes under this category ??

Please advice

Hi, 2011 applicants are not affected. Even those who applied in 2009 are currently receiving medicals. The emphasis is on pre Feb 2008. So rest assured, once you qualify you have nothing to worry about except of course the frustration of waiting. All the best!

it is only for those of pre feb 27th, 2008 candidates for whose 67 points criteria are not assessed. those who have completed that stage also have been saved :)

My dear friend, there is no problem with your application. If you are following the current trends, VOs are trying to finish MI 1 files by June 2012. They are getting updates (MRs). Soon it will be our turn too. So hang in there.

Mandie, do u think if there is something to do with our NOC code in specific that people are in queue but not processed further. because other NOC are progressing a bit faster than what is actually happening to us.

one other things i have read that credential assesment is also getting implemented, what do u thing this will effect current application also or is for those who will apply after this legislation being passed ?

I think the pace of processing is dependent on the VO, take NDVO for instance who between Nov to Feb hadissued MRs to applicants who applied after June 2011 irrespective of NOC. Some VOs (like mine) have barely issued MR to applicants with the same timeline.
The issue of making credential assessment a pre-requisite will take effect in July when the cap resets. During our time, it was only recommendation and not a must.

Hi mandie

What is credential assessment? Would you please explain.

Credential assessment is basically evaluating a foreign degree as against a Canadian one. So if you have BA social work from India, it will be compared to Canadian BASW and the result will either be equivalent or not. Hope you understand now?

Now its a time for all cases from march 2008 till june 2010 to get finalised by june 2012.
So people applied from July 2010 till current have to patiently wait for any file movement.
I am talking about London CHC other places the scenario could be different.

is this correct??????

The category affected is those who applied before 17 Feb 2008. Applications after this date are not affected. So please rest assured and stop posting the same query on different threads. :P All the best!

but mandie, his question is very specific. pre feb 2008 is a different issue. a serious discussion is going on that cases before MI2 will be settled before june 2012 by keeping MI2 and MI3 aside. did you hear something like that ?

i came to know that its not true . you have something to say ?

I have also heard that VOs are trying to finish MI 1 by June and it is evident (at least from my VO) that such applicants are receiving MRs. However I am confident that VOs won't toss MI 2&3 aside, they will process ours too. So let's hang in there and see what happens within 2 months guys. Let's hope for he best!

I suppose VOs (espcially London) have changed their preriority becasue I have applied in March, 2011 and got PER in July , 2011 and RBVO since August, 2011.

Last week i got GCMS notes and i got that there is no progress on my file.
