i am a social worker planning to apply for a pr status and would like to know about the details of the funding details like the amount which we hav to show in account. Also is it important to show the evidence in home country? please provide information abt this

I submit my application in CIO on 5th November 2010 and haven't got PER yet. My VO is Vienna.

As far as i know we can contact them after 06 weeks, to pursue, if we couldnt hear anything about our file.

don't wait your money and time by going to Ryerson University Program..
faculties from Ryerson suggested this option to me. so why you don't try this...

I have filed my application on 31 November 2010 and I have heard nothing fro CIO . I called them and they asked me to wait till end of June and agent told me its still in process.

Hope for best. Anyone who has filed case before 31 November please tell us know about case updates.

I did call CIC to get information and I have marked them 5 E mails but same reply that it takes atleast 30 weeks to do complete background check.

whereas Background Checks are done at visa office. Dont know what to do ?

I got email from CIC with only one number that starts with E00000**** and when i check ecase its not updated. i have not recieved any email.

I filed my case independently. Agents are all mess so didnt apply through them.

Dear All, wanted to know whether, graduation in Sociology, will stands back with Social workers NOC, coz some of my friends say, one must have a degree in Social work.
When i got my job as a Field Social Organizer, they required graduation in social sciences, and i got the job on the bases of Sociology....

I am a silent reader on this forum, just registered to be a member. I am planning to apply under NOC4152 -Social Worker. I am basically a commerce graduate presently appearing for the final year MSW exams through distance education mode. i have more that 4 years experience as Social worker. I am not sure whether my application will be accepted, but have decided to file the application by 21st of May.

I have collected all the documents, only thing pending is the property valuation from the local authority.

While assembling the application package, should we number each items with a stick on slip or can we just assemble the documents one on top of the other according to the checklist order. My matriculation certificate is a book and I have taken photocopies of all pages of the book, should I label it as Matriculation book, and do so on with other documents. My spouse was not able to get a reference letter, for which an affidavit is being enclosed , should I provide a covering letter for this?
what about a covering letter explaining that Social Worker is not a regulated profession in my country and I have worked as social worker based on my experience during my volunteering period and I decided to do MSW, to improve my future career prospects.

What do you other members on the forum suggest.

Dear Shami,
1. Arrange the documents as per the CIO checklist and the VO checklist
2.To get points for education, you need degree certificates and transcripts in university sealed evelope. As you have not yet finished the MSW course, I don't know if you will get the full 25 points (ie if u have at least 17 yrs education).
3.If your spouse is unable to get a reference letter, contracts, work ids, payslip could come in handy. Also a cover letter stating why this is the case will be needed
4. I think the fact that you are persuing the social work qualification should help as most provincial regulating bodies require a social work degree.i don't know what impact not having finisnhed the course yet will have on the FSW application. Further you need your credentials to be assessed by th Canadian Association of Social Workers, who unfortunately don's access degrees through long distance education or self study.

Your reply was encouraging, I am not planning to pursue SW as a career in Canada. Presently ,I am working as Executive Asisstant, which is my preferable job in Canada.Later may be I will take up a course and

I have got my MSW marklists and dissertation copy attested from the University, in a sealed envelope. For me points is not much of an issue. without the MSW degree, I am able to make 67 points. i am enclosing the transcripts, as a proof of my undergoing the course.

Actually, my employer had mentioned in the reference letter that I was asked to take a break form the organization and do a MSW degree, as the new funding agency which started funding the organization made it mandatory that employees should have Social Work degree and once Shami Rashid completes her MSW, she is welcome to join back the organization. Will this be a drawback, I feel so, but my employer thought otherwise.

I have gone through the link of workingincanada.gc.ca , and noticed that Social Work is not a regulated profession in Yukon, Nunavut & Northwest territories, in that case if I give one of these place as preferred location, would it matter if I apply before completing my MSW degree.
