What about old age security? My dad is eligible for this as there was a treaty between Canada and our home country and he would qualify. I'm just concerned tif this meets the criteria of social services

If he has paid into a pension plan then that would not count as social assistance. If there are additional payments based on income that could be different.
Hello @canuck78 I had the same question "Is the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) considered as social assistance?" this is regarding my parents who just recently got their permanent residence through the Parents and Grandparents Program. I am glad to have found your answer. Do you know if the senior's drug plan that the provinces provide (we live in Saskatchewan) is considered social assistance? I don't want to incur in any offenses but at the same time I don't want them to miss out on anything that they could be lawfully entitled to. What kind of resources could I consult every time I have a similar question? Thank you very much in advance!
