I think, as Screech noted, AOR really doesn't mean anything. If you folks are this distraught over not yet receiving your AOR and it's only been a few weeks, you are in for quite a wild ride whilst you wait for your AIP and PR. My application was in receipt at CIC on Dec 7, 2012. I got an AOR and application in process together on Jan 21, 2013. Here I sit, months later, and still nothing, not a peep out of them. Polish up on your patience skills. I know how hard it is to sit and wait, and wonder what the hold up is, but if you sit and wonder all day long you are going to drive yourself crazy. Just remember even when you get your AOR, they can ask for an interview later, or ask for more paperwork 11 months after the fact or many many things. AOR doesn't give you anything. If your tracking numbers for your application show in receipt, then they have your application.
I totally understand what you are saying. But I already have in my mind fully prepared to wait about 2 years to get our Approval. We have some situations that will require further checking by CIC. So I am expecting to wait longer than the average processing time.
But the reason I am anxious about AOR is because until I receive it, I am wondering and worrying if they are going to send back my whole Application and my wait time would start from the beginning. And since AOR doesn’t really have much to do with the situations that could slow down and cause delays in processing, it is worrying me that we haven’t rec’d ours.
I was watching the average time before ours was sent it, and had it in my mind to wait that long. It passed, and I started seeing people who sent in their Applications weeks and now up to almost a month after us continue getting AOR’s while we haven’t rec’d ours. If it was AIP/DM, I totally get that every Application will have many differences and valid reasons why some get theirs months ahead of others. But for AORs you wouldn’t think that’s so much the case.
I can’t even really consider my Application in line for the wait time until I get AOR….It’s completely a peace of mind thing. It’s not that I am some impatient person who can’t wait, I know full well what sort of wait I am in for. I have done this whole process before..(for my ex husband, but cancelled it before Approval was rec’d, since we got divorced).
Interview – 1000% not worried. Extra papers later – No problem. Wait time past what is specified – Expected.
Also AOR just gives us something to show also because my husband is out of status. So once we have the AOR, at least if we ever run into any problems, it will be something solid to prove that he is in process.
