So easy for Third Worlders? Why?

I'm quite perplexed at how hard it is for a myself to get a work permit for Canada, yet everywhere I go there is a good deal of ethnic workers, although highly unskilled. I myself am 100 percent English and have spent 5 year in University, and I hope to one day teach history at a University in either Alberta or BC. Once thing I have noticed is the unworldly amount of Third Worlders living in Canada. I can't understand how it so so easy for them to come in droves, yet so very for highly educated whites?

Seems a little mad to me....

There are thousands of "thirdworlders" (as you say) living in england too, so why is it surprising only in canada?
How long did it take you to assess our skills by the way?...just curious to know, cause to my poor knowledge that must have taken a few sleepless nights at least :)

Because England has an open door immigration policy, and our last socialist government made a concentrated effort to make us multicultural. Anyone can come and live in the UK no problem.

To move to places Like Canada and the US, I was under the impression it was hard. Well for educated Europeans it is...

You're generalizing and oversimplifying.

It's hard for everyone to get a work permit (these days very hard). Just spend some time reading through the foreign workers section of the forum to get a feel for what it takes.

It's certainly harder for some professions than others. It is much more difficult to get a work permit in a field where there are plenty of Canadians looking for work and no need for foreign workers. Teaching would be one such field (Canada has too many very qualified teachers already and not enough jobs so it's pretty much impossible to get a work permit as a teacher because Canada wants to give priority to its own workers).

If you are very educated and have specialized capabilities / experiece - this certainly makes it easier since you may have something (i.e. skill, capability) an employer cannot find in Canada. This can include many fields like IT, engineering, business, etc.

In some places in Canada there aren't enough Canadians applying to lower skilled jobs and these jobs continually go unfilled. Hence why they are being filled by foreign workers.

Scylla is right there are a lot of different factors to take into account. Although it does remind me of a time I popped into Tim Hortons in a downtown Toronto location and the worker couldnt speak a word of English so hadnt a clue of what I was asking for. I ended up having to go across the counter and pouring the hot chocolate myself! I dont know what was more worrying her lack of English or me knowing what buttons to press for a hot chocolate.

Anway I think the dynamics of immigration have changed over the last few decades where the vast majority are coming from the asian continent compared to Europe after WW2. Many will have family members already here and I'm sure there is a fair number of illegal immigrants especially in the more urban areas where they can effectively blend in with the culture. However, I'm sure as in the UK a lot are exploited.

There is also a large number of immigrants who are actually very skilled but due to their English not being 100% will struggle to get a job and end up working in various unskilled professions. Our old superintendent had a PHD in electrical engineering but couldnt get any work in his field....he was white!

I hope I didn't come across wrong. I didn't mean non-white. Just unskilled and not English speaking.
If a company wants to import loads of unskilled workers on work permits, they will go to an employment agency and get them from a 3rd world country because they will get workers who are happy to get the opportunity to make a little more money than they can at home, who will do a good job, who will want to keep their jobs. If they advertise jobs like that in 1st world countries, they will get very few applicants except maybe young kids who see it as an opportunity to bum around and who don't actually care if they keep the job or not so it will show in their work.

Low skilled workers on work permits don't actually get to immigrate. They can stay for up to 4 years, then return home to be replaced by more low skilled workers who don't speak English.

Your original post used the phrases like "ethnic workers, although highly unskilled", "unworldly amount of Third Worlders", and "highly educated whites". So I think most of us did in fact assume you were referring to non-caucasians in your comments.

Wow! with that mentality about "highly educated whites" that is really surprising for someone who claims is highly educated as education makes you open your mind, for my understanding they will highly prioritized born Canadians to teach HISTORY in Canada, no matter what the color of skin is, is not easy for anybody to immigrate to any country that is not yours.

Thats cause its cool to be ethnic, it rolls off the tongue so beautifully. And if you say it really slowly it sounds so exotic. I am assuming you are a history major and you should know better about Orientalism and perception of sociocultural discourse of the East shared among the white folks. The idea of mysterious, exotic, unknown men and women running around an island surviving on seafood and coconut juice is enough to send shivers of excitement down the spine of any Western explorer. Add Brits to exploration adventure and you can see how divide and conquer and colonialism and slavery was such a lovely story.

Fast forward to 2014 the roles have been reversed, the whites have become the mysterious, exotic, unknown to the East and its hot topic of almost every household at the dinner table

The highly educated whites dont need to come here cause what Canada has is already available in their own homes if not more. Its like moving within the same home from their bedroom to the living room. How exciting is that???

Contrary to your belief its actually not easy for them to come in droves, they have to pass immigration rules like anyone, however the Third worlders have something called "strong kinship ties" that serves as their identity. The West is about individualism and self identity, the East is about Kinship and group identity. So they sponsor and bring their whole damn family over. And there is your answer.

But you really dont have to get your feathers all ruffled, unlike western explorers most Third worlders come here for economic reasons and with them they bring their extended families. I'd be very surprised should they decide to make Canada a colony, enslave Canadians and send part of Canadian exports to their home countries.

Well in from England and have seen my country literally destroyed by people from ethnic backgrounds. If you aren't English, you don't what I'm talking about.

Our countries have also been destroyed by the English during colonization, the people were humiliated, the natural resources were robbed...since you are English, you know what i'm talking about.

So i couldn't care less to see you suffer from an overflow of immigrants :)

So contrary to your earlier assertion, it appears you've just confirmed that you were in fact referring to non-whites. Not sure why you tried to argue otherwise...

Immigration policys are written in a way that is meant to benefit the country and its citizens, not written so that anyone can immigrate just because they want to. The exception to this is working holiday visas.

The reason you see a lot of "third worlders" is because they are happy to do jobs which most canadians(and I assume yourself) are not happy to do, and for not a lot of money.

If you were highly educated in a profession that Canada required more workers in you would have no issues getting a work permit.

This makes me laugh, the other day I ordered a double double, I was a few km down the road before I realised they had given me a double double TEA. Must have been the first day on the job, it wont take them long to work out there is only one double double at Tim Hortons. I still visit the store multiple times a day though.
